THE LATINO EFFECT: Cooks and Bartenders Union could call a strike in Las Vegas

Last week, 95% of the members of the Nevada Cooks and Bartenders Union voted in favor of calling a workers' strike in the context of negotiating their contracts with the hotels MGM Resort International, Caesars Entertainment and Wynn Resorts.

The hotel workers unions that live in Las Vegas are key pieces in boosting the Latino vote in Nevada, something that was demonstrated in the last midterm election, where Democratic Senator Cortéz Masto achieved victory by just 8,000 votes difference, after receiving the support of the Cooks and Bartenders Union, which has at least 60,000 members.
